Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rock chip repair?

Windshield chip repair is a process of repairing minor damage to a windshield, typically caused by small stones or debris hitting the windshield while driving. The repair process involves injecting a special resin into the damaged area, which fills the chip and hardens to create a bond that is nearly as strong as the original glass.

How big of a crack will you repair?

Most shops refuse to repair cracks, prefering to replace rather than repair it. We repair first and have repaired cracks as long as 24 inches. We also repair cracks in "line of sight".

Is my Chip Repair really FREE?

That's right! It can be FREE to you! A little known fact is that most insurance companies WILL PAY 100% of the cost for a windshield REPAIR. No matter what your deductible is most insurance companies WILL pay for it. It's true! It's a fact! No kidding! You don't even pay a deductible. We will even process the claim for you. With a quick 8-minute call, we will have your claim approved, AND YOUR INSURANCE RATES WILL NOT GO UP.

It's as easy as 1-2-3. Call Us – Schedule It – We do the Repair!

Call us, email us or submit your vehicle and insurance information over our confidential web page.

We schedule your repair. A repair normally takes 15 to 25 minutes per chip. We will process your claim for you. We will even be on the phone with you and your insurance company. It is just that easy.

Another option, you call your insurance company yourself to verify what we are telling you. Have your insurance card ready when you call them. With them on the phone go ahead and initiate the repair approval process and then get an approval number. Write that number down and give it to us when we repair your windshield. Be prepared to spend 5 to 10 minutes on the phone with your insurance company. Be sure to ask them what your deductible will be.

Call your insurance company and begin your conversation by saying "Hi, I would like to initiate a claim for a windshield repair. I have (state the amount of chips that you have) chips on my windshield."

What is this FREE Chip Repair?

Repairs are free to you, the consumer, but not free of any charges. Repairs are billed to your insurance carrier. Most people, whether they are aware of it or not, are covered for windshield repair without a deductible and without their premiums increasing. However, it is up to the recipient of a free windshield repair to confirm with your insurance agent all details about their insurance policies. We are not responsible for any actions by an insurance carrier that may adversely affect any insurance policy due to a windshield repair insurance claim.

If you are unsure about your insurance carrier’s policies, ask your insurance agent.

If you are not covered by insurance, we can repair your windshield at a fair price.

Some insurance companies require you pay for the repair and then they will reimburse you.

The windshield repair process is designed to prevent the spread of damage from the initial point of impact. Fast Rock Chip Repair guarantees the visual appearance of every windshield repair and is committed to your 100% satisfaction. The credit will be issued to the party that was responsible for the initial payment. In the event your deductible was waived for the windshield repair, you will be required to pay any applicable deductible for a windshield replacement.

In case of further breakage during the repair process Fast Rock Chip Repair, LLC will not submit a claim for the repair or charge a cash fee for non-insured repairs.

We do require that you allow us access to the inside of your vehicle during the repair process. We are not responsible for locking your vehicle for you when we are finished with our work.

Are Cracks Really Dangerous if not repaired?

In a front end collision or a rollover accident, a replaced or cracked windshield could easily cause serious injury! This is because the windshield is an integral part of your car's air bag protection and roof support systems. An intact windshield improves the safety of your vehicle.

Over the past three years, 10.7 million windshields per year have been replaced. Some vehicles, in high stone damage areas, need as many as two or three windshield replacements every year. Repair when possible, replace only when necessary! Repair cracks as soon as you see them and you will save time and money.

Cracked windshields obscure your vision, distract you while you drive and are unsightly to look at.

Cracked windshields are unsafe:

  1. Your windshield prevents you from being ejected during an accident.

The safest place to be during a car accident is in the car. Your windshield is an important barrier that keeps you in the car. A cracked windshield can fail during a collision or roll over, allowing you or your passenger to be ejected. A passenger ejected from a car or truck is much more likely to experience a serious injury or death.

  1. Your windshield is a "backstop" for your passenger air bag.

Many people don't realize that front-seat passenger airbags deploy against the windshield. In the event of a front-end collision, a cracked windshield can fail, allowing passengers who aren't seat belted properly to be ejected from the vehicle through the windshield.

  1. Your windshield supports the roof.

An automobile's windshield is designed to prevent the roof from crushing you in a rollover accident. A windshield can be significantly weakened by cracks and may fail to support the roof if the car flips over, causing severe injury or death to occupants.

What Should You Do If You Have a Cracked Windshield?

Answer: Repair or replace cracked windshields as soon as possible.

Do you offer a warranty?

Warranty for Repairs Paid by Insurance Claim

National Windshield Repair Association Certified Technician patch, I guarantee the repaired area of your windshield will not crack further for as long as you own your car. In the unlikely event the repaired area does crack further during the warranty period, I will repair it free of charge. An inspection and the original receipt are required.

During the repair process, there is a rare chance that the windshield may crack further or completely crack out. If this occurs, Fast Rock Chip Repair is not liable for replacing the windshield.

Warranty is non-transferable.

RESTRICTIONS APPLY: I promise that the actual area I repaired will not crack further. Warranty is void if your windshield cracks out from new or additional damage, stress, automobile accidents, abuse, cracks developing from an area that was not repaired (filled with resin), or repairs performed by you or another company.

Warranty does not apply to stop-crack procedures (entire crack is not filled with resin), but are only done to temporarily stop the crack from spreading. I always discuss warranty issues with this type of repair before performing the procedure.

I am not responsible for the cost of a new windshield or an insurance deductible under any circumstance.
